The end of the world has been prophesied, theorized and televised, from the early texts of the bible to Hollywood blockbusters. Modern-day issues like pandemics and global warming have re-invigorated the conversation about the possibility of life as we know it coming to an end. Whether itÕs the apocalypse, or oneÕs own death, it is humankindÕs burden to know that it will all end, someday. The images in the series Apocalipstick are literal, and not-so-literal interpretations of the end of the world, and the emotions that stem from it.

Adrienne Simms grew up in New York City, and moved as a teenager to San Francisco, where she currently resides. Inspired by history, horror movies and her dreams, she seeks to create a world that is her own. The female form is invariably the starting point of her imagery, the face and hands specifically are the means of expression. She enjoys exploring the tension between the macabre and the humorous.
